Fall weather tends to be slow coming around these part and while I’m not complaining, I love sewing Fall clothing and sometimes the long wait for cozy pants and sweater weather can be hard. Now that the weather has finally turned, I had to get some Fall inspired clothing on the cutting table. Sewing this Goodall Cardigan and these cozy, flannel Moroccan Pants made my heart happy.
I am so excited today, to be a part of the Sewing Block Party over at Petit A Petit and Family which is a month long sewing party in honor of Petit A Petit Shop’s release of three new sewing patterns. After drooling over Celina’s amazing and unique kid’s clothing on the blog, I was thrilled when she opened her pattern shop. You can always be sure Petit A Petit Patterns are going to be stylish, unique, and perfectly drafted. Visit Petit A Petit Shop and enter the code: BLOCKPARTY for 20% off all patterns throughout the tour and read on to the end for a fabulous giveaway.
The Goodall Cardigan (free for those who join the Petit A Petit Facebook Page) comes in sizes 2-8 years. Even if you decide not to join the Facebook group (though I can’t imagine why you’d not want to keep current with this pattern shop), you can’t beat the price of this pattern for all the color coded sizes. The cardigan itself is a super easy sew which is sure to become a staple in your child’s wardrobe. The relaxed fit of the pattern makes it perfect for layering which is great at the beginning of Fall when it’s cool in the morning and then warms up throughout the day. I used a yummy mustard, waffle knit for the sleeves, waistband and neck binding and paired it with a chocolate interlock. I’m thinking there’s enough room in the pattern to work with a lightweight woven which would make a super cool, lightweight jacket.
This is my second time sewing the Morocco Pants. Over the summer I sewed the shorts option and it’s quickly become one of those patterns that never get’s put away. I’m pretty sure I gushed non-stop about this pattern the last time but here’s a quick review of what I love. The fit is spot on. This is a slim pant but the waist and seat area provide the perfect amount of room for active kids. My boys usually steer clear of anything that’s not a “soft” pant unless I make them dress up for church, so the sheer fact that this guy asks to wear these pants is a big deal. It’s a huge testament to the comfort that comes from a perfectly fitting pair of pants. And seriously, how cool is that tuxedo stripe?
And don’t get me started on all of the options. The pattern includes the following features: – slim fit trousers or short length – fun tuxedo stripe or basic smart looking pants/shorts – 3 different possible waistbands: regular, fitted or elasticized. – slanted side pockets – hem facings or rolled hem option – belt loops – double welt pocket with or without a flap – faux flap back pocket – front zipper fly or faux fly. I’m pretty sure I could sewing these twenty different times, mixing and matching the options, and never sew the same pants. I love that in a sewing pattern.
