Are your kids out of school yet? Or are you one of those “lucky” few that are still slogging through the last week or two? Whether you were cheering right along with your kids or dreading the inevitable Summer statement, “Moooooom, I’m boooored!” you’ll eventually come to that point in summer where you’ve crossed everything off the Summer Bucket List. Even if you’ve signed them up for every camp under the sun, I can guarantee you they’ll say it at some point. That’s where the Summer Boredom Buster Kit comes in. This is THE summer boredom buster kit.
Some of my very favorite mom bloggers got together to help themselves, and others, beat the summer boredom blues. In theory, I think we can all agree that a wee bit of boredom is a good thing. My kids are at their most creative when mom’s only response to the dreaded statement of boredom is, “Great! I’ll give you a job.” It’s amazing how quickly my kids can find something to do when faced with the choice between a job or making up a game or activity. The thing is . . . the longer summer break lasts, the harder it becomes for them to come up with things to do. And if you’ve been reading here for a while, you know me. I love the wealth of ideas on Pinterest but a girl can get lost on they’re looking for activities for the kids and then trying to figure out what supplies are needed and what is already on hand. What I love about this kit is the ability to print and go. Since the wonderful ladies involved in this project generously sent over the ENTIRE kit, I’m going to focus today’s review on the Adventure Boredom Buster Kit.
Adventure portion of the Ultimate Boredom Buster Kit, can be purchased separately and comes with 5 different activities. With that said, I highly encourage you to take a look at the bundle because there is just so much awesomeness involved. That’s 10 activities with 3+ bonus printables that will make filling your summer break a breeze! The Adventure Boredom Buster Kit is geared toward 6-12 year olds but with a little more involvement on your part is quite adaptable for 4 and 5 year olds.
The birding kit can be used at home or for a special bird watching adventure. We took a spin out to one of our favorite nature spots and brought our Birder’s Field Notes Journal along to help us take notes on the birds in our area. The Field Note Journal itself was printed and put together in minutes so we were able to print and go in less than 10 minutes. We had a great bird watching day and were able to fill up our books in just one hike but what I love about the flexibility of this kit is that we can keep printing and filling all summer long.
If you’re using this with older kids, the Field Guide can be used completely as an independent activity since it comes complete with instructions, a list bird reference websites and tips on how to draw birds. If your little one is not quite sure on this aspect, there’s even a page for bird drawing practice. If you have a home bird feeder, this is something they could do right in your own back yard. I know mine get so excited to see new birds come to the feeder, so this is sure to be an ongoing activity.
As well as the birding activity, the Adventure Kit comes with hours of fun-filled with cooking, nature activities, a backyard explorer’s kit, and a journal of kid friendly science experiments. For a limited time, if you purchase the Ultimate Boredom Buster Kit in its entirety, you’ll also receive three extra bonus printables which contain helpful calendars, chore charts ect. They’ve seriously thought of everything a stay-at-home parent needs to survive Summer Break. That is except the popsicles.
And because these ladies are SO very awesome they’re offering a 10% off coupon. Use code: BUSTERS10 (valid through July 31, 2016.)
