Today May 4th. Do you know what makes this day special? It’s the unofficial holiday of Star Wars Fans. To celebrate this year, I made the boys new Star Wars t-shirts. After seeing The Force Awakens this summer, BB8 is now the reigning droid. Which means, of course, the boys needed BB8 shirts to round out their Star Wars shirt collections. Read on to make a BB8 Freezer Paper Stencil shirt of your own.
I mean, I don’t blame them for leaving R2D2 behind. He just can’t compute in the cuteness category with the roly-poly, self-rotating belly of BB8. Though I have to say I’m partial to R2D2’s color scheme. Orange is just not as much fun to work with as silver and blue. This one was done in orange for my little guy who wanted accurate colors but I like the one’s that were done for his brothers in black.
I’ve scanned in the freezer paper stencil for the body that I used for this one. You’ll also need a circle of freezer paper for the eye and if you want to jazz him up a bit, you can hand draw a heart to use on his face. Simply trace the stencil onto your freezer paper and use a Exacto knife to cut around the white spaces on the download that are surrounded by orange. Iron onto your shirt (make sure you have a layer of cardboard or wax paper between shirt layers, and paint your desired color.
