I’m excited to be joining in on the One Thimble Issue 11 Blog Tour put together by Pattern Revolution. I was given the change to review two of the TWELVE patterns available in this issue. Today, I’m reviewing the Hood Creatures Free Motion Applique Pattern by Stitch Art. I’ve combined the fox applique pattern with my free Hooded Vest Pattern to create, in my opinion, the world’s cutest fox hoodie.
The Hood Creatures Free Motion Applique Pattern is included in One Thimble Issue 11 and can also be purchased separately in the One Thimble shop. It includes applique templates for this darling fox, as well as a giraffe, panda, and some rather cool hipster style accessories. The Applique patterns included in this pattern are meant as hood toppers but can be used in so many different ways. As soon as we saw the fox, we knew he was destined to be a fox hoodie but I think several of these would make amazing additions to a back pack and could even be used for Halloween costumes.
One Thimble Issue 11 includes a hooded sweatshirt pattern you can use, but since were heading into summer (some day, hopefully, if it ever stops raining), I grabbed the Hooded Dragon Vest Pattern and left off the dragon spikes. It worked perfectly with this applique! I used the wrong side of this amazing french terry knit from Raspberry Creek Fabrics for the hoodie and lining and love the way the darker side peaks through at the hood and button tab. My favorite part though has to be that little, fox tail on the back!
This french terry fabric is perfect for this time of year where this guy’s not buying the need for a jacket but the weather has its own ideas. I feel a little better knowing he’s got an extra layer and a hood he can fall back on when his ears get chilly.
