With the new Harry Potter movies soon to hit the big screen, we’ve renewed our Harry Potter obsession. Okay, so it never went away and I know my obsession seriously outweighs that of my children but whatever. I own it. That, coupled with a need for new summer pajamas and the youngest has yet another Harry Potter themed piece of clothing. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t want a Harry Potter Pajama Set?
I’ve actually had “My Other Ride Is A Hippogriff” scribbled in my notebook since last summer when I made this Gryffindor Password T-shirt for Raegun Rambling’s annual Happy Harry Potter Series. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to bring it into fruition. Buckbeak is one of my favorite Harry Potter creatures. You got to love a creature who has enough sense to take a nip at Draco Malfoy. It’s only logical that we’d honor him with a Harry Potter Pajama Set. Buckbeak lives!
Since this little chap’s sleeping body temperature is about 110 degrees, a summer pajama set must include shorts and a t-shirt of tank top. I used the FREE Flannel Pajama pattern and modified it to short length. If you follow along on IG, you’ve seen that I had a mini-summer pajama making party when our crazy weather spent a few weeks in the high 70’s last month. I’m working to get those graded and up here ASAP.
For the shirt, I used Blank Slate Pattern’s Pocket Pajamas (affiliate link) mostly because it still hasn’t been put away from the last time I made them. I know, crazy right? Some where in my brain it’s easier to modify a pattern that’s already out, than to actually look through my binders of pre-printed patterns to see if I have another pattern cut out in the size that I need. In this case, all that was needed was to skip the button placket set, create a custom ribbed neckband and shorten the sleeves. So much easier than looking through the pattern binders. Right?
I was going to go with brighter color for the wording since this triangle print is so busy but the little munchkin insisted I use his favorite color-“golden”. I figured I was forcing my Harry Potter obsession on him, I might as well give him say in the color choices. Ha!
Want to make a Harry Potter Pajama set for yourself? Or maybe a tote or pencil pouch? Feel free to grab the “My Other Ride Is A Hippogridff” printable to freezer paper stencil All. The. Things. I know this phrase is sure to show up on many other soon to be made things in this house. Look for them in the Beatnik Kids Shop!
