The big Daddy in this house loves to work out in his garden. He’s been able to to reserve a nice square of land in our backyard for just that occasion. Now that he’s got everything planted, we decided he needs a few garden markers to show what each plant is. We made up a set using some river rocks left over from our landscaping projects.
Here’s what you need to make a set for your favorite garden lover:
Start by painting one or a group of each vegetable on each stone. Create a simple silhouette or a more detailed picture by layering paint colors. If you are going to do several layers of details, make sure you allow each coat to dry thoroughly before painting the next layer.
With a black sharpie, outline each vegetable and add details. Then neatly write the name of the vegetable.
Finally, apply two or more coats of Outdoor Mod Podge to seal the paint. Wait 72 hours before exposing the rocks to the elements. Then place them in your garden.
A fantastic gift to pamper the family gardener? We think so! We filled a basket with his garden markers, some seed packets and a few essential tools to round out the home made gift.
Father’s Day is just around the corner but these would make great gifts for any gardener in your life. Stay tuned this week for a free seed packet printable.
