I’ve seen Halloween luminaries all over the blog-sphere this month. It’s for good reason. There is always something about candle light that lends itself to the perfect mood. I saw a set of monsters over at Crazy Domestic that I thought were great. I loved the idea of recycling stuff we already had to spice things up and get the family in the holiday spirit. I decided the C and I could work together to make a set of our own DIY Halloween Monster Jars.
I have littles so we went with cutesy over scary but honestly, it’s a fine line because that scarecrow is kinda giving me the creeps.
Really though, these are so easy to make. I had the little tear the tissue paper into small pieces (this is great for working on fine motor skills that benefit hand strength for scissor cutting and pencil grip). Then I Mod Podged into place and added a few face details which were cut out of adhesive foam.
We live in a country that recycles and thus sorts EVERYTHING. I’m not even kidding. Even the tea bag is split. The bag and tag go one place, the tea in another. So needless to say, I had plenty of empty glass jars on hand. C chose the characters.
I’m still trying to decided which Halloween Monster Jar is my favorite. For some reason that Frankenstein is cracking me up. How cute is his spiky hair and those eye brows!!
We threw in a set of tea lights, turned out the lights and let these Halloween Monster Jars shine!
